ABOUT ME
WHAT I'VE DONE

I'm a  Freelance Surface Pattern Designer, based in Manchester U.K. I have always been very imaginative and creative.

I graduated in Textile design with Distinction.

I  completed my M.A in Surface Pattern Design and Textiles with a Merit Award from U.C.L.A.N, U.K

When I graduated I did freelance work for a couple of New York based companies and mostly made patterns by hand.

After my children, I took a long gap from design and worked in other areas but always wanted to retrain and start designing again.

I have done some on line courses to build up my portfolio and to enhance my knowledge about surface patterns.

At the moment I'm working freelance for U.S.A based studios.

I live with my Family in Greater Manchester U.K

My final M.A project was based on hand drawn motifs which were later digitally coloured and set in repeats . I created silk scarves with designs inspired from Folk Art. My aim was to develop computer skills using folk art as inspiration. I wanted to use these motifs according to the pattern and color trends today and see how they appear on products.

I have worked as a freelance pattern designer for many years. Initially I worked for a N.Y based company DesignDirection.

I designed their Tropical prints for men shirts.

I have also worked abroad for textile companies as a freelance designer.

I won the D.G Roland competition in partnership with Make It In Design in 2016.

I have done some on line  M.I.I.D courses with Rachael Taylor as the course leader and thoroughly enjoyed them.

I'm currently working for Dianoche Designs in Colorado, Five Points Graphics NY and Graphic Moda UK.

WHAT I DO

Patterns that are genuine and authentic appeal to me.

I find the bold, simple motifs and bright colors very refreshing in this complex world of digital design.

My signature style comprises of bright colours, simple hand drawn forms and doodles with a bit of imperfection.

I love making patterns and create interesting motifs. Sometimes I paint them or just use different pens to create linear drawings.

Besides photography I draw and collage most of my work.

Although Photoshop has some great options for different brushes which give the effect of hand drawing but it still does not have that special element that hand drawing has.

At the same I use computer for many things. I like working in Ai and PS mostly.

I do the colours and repeats on the computer and prefer doing half drop repeats as it gives more flow to my patterns.

I'm always trying to enhance my digital designing skills and trying out new techniques.
